Are you passing through Epinal? Don’t miss its famous print works!

The Imagerie d’Epinal, founded in 1796, is the last print works still in operation in Europe. It was taken over in 2014 by two passionate entrepreneurs who are continuing the adventure of print creation using techniques inherited from the 18th and 19th centuries. The guided tour is an opportunity to discover the huge historic workshop and its old machines still in operation today (Gutenberg, Heidleberg and Linotype presses, and the Aquatype, an incredible colouring machine, of which these are the last 2 in existence anywhere in the world). You will learn the secrets of the famous prints and how a lithograph is made, plus the current production. The tour ends in the shop which has been recently renovated and which sells a wide selection of old and contemporary prints by young artists and famous authors (Sfar, Loustal, Bourgeon, etc.) and many by-products (tableware, books, stationary, sweets, etc.).
