The only French manufacturer of pins and needles!
Situated at Saint Sulpice sur Risle, near to L’Aigle in Normandy, BOHIN France is keeping the traditional pin and needle production of its region alive. The company was founded over 180 years ago and is established in around thirty countries. Its exceptional heritage stands on the banks of the river and preserves the memory of France’s industrial past.
As they cross the 2 floors of the production workshops where the company’s employees work, the public can see how sewing needles, safety pins and glass-headed pins are born. Separated by just a railing, visitors will discover age-old know-how on machines, some of which date from the 19th century.
On 2 floors, a large contemporary museum retraces needle-related professions (Haute Couture, patchwork, embroidery, plus book-binders, yachts and taxidermists!), the history of the region and its metallurgy, the appearance of the pin and the needle, the life of the atypical founder of the company, BOHIN adverts and production, exceptional companies (a pleating craftsman, bell founder, silk flower maker, lace, metal products, Nogent scissors), and artists and artistic trends based on haberdashery.
Large shop (BOHIN products, by-products, books kits, creators, etc.) and creative workshops, subject to prior booking.
