The Fort-Royer site is established in the heart of a natural area of remarkable ecological value for the richness of its fauna and flora. It is composed of a man-made oyster farm on a muddy foreshore partially covered with oyster beds, and constantly changing dune formations.
Visiting it is a discovery of all aspects of oyster farming and its heritage.
Guided tours describe the natural environment, the local identity, the profession and know-how of the oyster farmers (breeding, maturing, shipping). Walks in the oyster parks are the opportunity to watch them at work.
At the end of tours, an oyster tasting can be organised in a shelling hut in the middle of the oyster beds and channels.
